Located right in the heart of downtown Sausalito, across the street from the San Francisco Bay, Copita Tequileria y Comida is a seasonal Mexican restaurant and tequila bar created by the uber-talented and BlendAbout favorite Joanne Weir and Larry Mindel. The restaurant is inviting from the start, with open doors and a charming front patio for alfresco dining.
We love the bar seating too; there’s a fire pit at the end, which cooks up the menu’s meaty selections. The atmosphere is bright and buzzy, with decorative tiles throughout the space. Clearly, aside from the atmosphere, the food won us over.
With Executive Chef Gonzalo Rivera Serving up some of the best Mexican food you will every try in the bay area. Get the guacamole & chips, wood-fired chicken, and (some of the best we’ve ever tasted) ceviche, or the Coctel Mixto. The dish is made with lobster, scallops, local halibut with tomato, orange, chile and topped with avocado—super light and refreshing, but still flavorful.
Along with the ceviche we also enjoyed some amazing fish tacos— seared Mahi-Mahi served on corn tortillas and topped with avocado, cabbage and a small tangerine slice.
Last but not least, you can’t go to a Mexican food restaurant and tequila bar without enjoying at least one (or two) margarita. Copita serves theirs over one large ice cube, a lime and if you like, a salted rim. Copita serves lunch & dinner daily in the dining room, bar, & outdoor patio.
